Ground Protection
On exterior locations, Mat Men levels and stabilizes the ground so heavy equipment and vehicles can move safely, while protecting the lawn, turf, or landscape underneath.
Why it matters: Ruts, tire tracks, and dead grass mean damage claims, unhappy owners, and locations that get blacklisted. The right ground protection keeps the site in the same condition it was found, so location managers can bring productions back.
Mud Track
Mud Track is a solid, heavy-duty high-density polyethylene (HDPE) mat rated up to 200 psi. Each panel is 4 ft x 8 ft, 1/2 in thick, and weighs 88 lbs, so panels can be moved and installed manually without equipment, making them ideal for fast-turnaround location work. The tread is reversible: rugged on one side for vehicle traction and smoother on the other for foot traffic. The tan color reduces heat buildup and grass kill compared with darker mats. Stainless steel connectors lock panels together in 2-way and 4-way layouts for continuous roadways and staging areas of any size. Mud Track handles rubber-tired vehicles, excavators, cranes, and drilling rigs, and is built for a field life of 10 years or more. The mats are non-toxic, chemically inactive, and do not conduct electricity, so they are safe for environmentally sensitive sites.

Grass Mats
Manufactured in the UK from 100% recycled geo-synthetic materials, our Grass Mats are designed to carry loads up to 20,000 lbs while allowing the grass underneath to breathe. Unlike plywood or dance floor, the oscillated mesh lets sun and oxygen reach the turf, preventing burns and die-off. The grass grows up through the mesh, increasing traction and improving slip resistance.

Plywood
Mat Men keeps hundreds of sheets of 3/4" and 1 1/4" plywood at the warehouse, available for rental at any time. Plywood is a reliable, cost-effective solution for spreading load across soft ground, bridging uneven surfaces, and protecting hardscape, pavers, or irrigation systems from vehicle and equipment traffic.
